FINEST CENTRE’s Story: From Idea Conception to Post-Project Ambitions and Vision

Join us for the webinar on February 21st, from 10:00 to 11:00 CET, where we will explore the journey that led to the FinEst Twins project—an EU Teaming initiative dedicated to building the FinEst Centre for Smart Cities.
We’ll cover the development of the proposal, the execution of the project to date, and conclude with the post-project ambitions and vision. The session will also highlight the key characteristics of both the proposal and the project, along with valuable lessons learned throughout the process.
Also, we will give a short overview about our pilot project and MAPIT project.
This webinar is beneficial for:
- Applicants to the 2025 Teaming call;
- Other Widening projects and their external stakeholders;
- Stakeholders with interests in Smart Cities specifically and the Green Transition more generally;
- Stakeholders for the EU Widening Program, including those with interests / activities in writing EU proposals and executing EU projects.
The objectives for this webinar are to:
- Increase the quality of proposals submitted to the 2025 Teaming call by disseminating best-practices and lessons-learned from elaborating the FinEst Twins proposal and building the FinEst Centre for Smart Cities;
- Increase awareness of and support for the FinEst Twins project specifically, and the Widening Programme more generally;
- Catalyze new collaborations;
- Support the formation of an EH Community
The webinar is intended to consist of a ~30 min. presentation and ~20 min. of Q&A and open discussion.

- Dr. Kalle Toiskallio – FinEst Centre’s research agenda and MAPIT project (10 min)

The event is part of The Widening Impacts Spring 2025 Webinar Series, which was initiated by the SolarHub Excellence Hubs project. Its overall aim is to increase the impact of EU Widening Projects by creating a platform for these projects to showcase their capacities, activities, and outcomes to a broad and diverse group of key stakeholders in the EU’s Widening Program.
