Carbon impact planning tool

The main challenge is how to estimate the carbon impact of different planning decisions, especially on the local level. Viimsi has started work on its new general plan for the municipality and one of our strategic goals is to take steps towards carbon neutrality. Since land use has a huge impact on carbon emissions, it’s necessary to have the data to accurately assess the carbon footprint of different planning solutions.

Until we have data on what decisions impact our carbon footprint the most, we are only guessing or using our intuition to make these decisions. Ideally, we would like our planning decisions to be mostly data driven.
