Community Inclusive Urban Transformation

Our proposed solution centers around a three phase framework that will be materialized as a software cloud platform. This web-based application will provide workflows to address challenges stated in the problem description around sustainable and community inclusive growth:

1. IDENTIFY:
   1. Repurpose land: identify available land for growth.
   2. Environmental impact: identify necessary processes to ensure sustainability.
   3. Community inclusion: identify how to maximize positive impact for the population.
2. PLAN SCENARIOS:
   1. Create scenarios considering different options to accommodate growth.
   2. Evaluate hypotheses for alternative environmental plans.
   3. Create scenarios to evaluate effectiveness to solve community challenges.
3. ANALYZE
   1. Compute tax revenue and possible investments in real-time as scenarios are created.
   2. Model metrics on effectiveness for sustainability and CO2 emissions.
   3. Calculate metrics on urban challenges for each alternative for redevelopment.

There are some key characteristics of the solution that will make a difference to help solve the problems we are targeting:

• Application will be web-based, centered on a dynamic and editable map that will allow users to contextualize any decision, and have instant feedback on interventions by scenario, including integrated traffic modeling by design to evaluate capacity of scenarios.
• Will include fast analytics computed as the solution is designed, to evaluate alternative solutions in real-time and tax incentives and inputs from the city will be the starting point to gauge scenarios. Those scenarios will be both Exploratory (one starting point, different paths and different destinations) and Normative (one destination, different paths).

Part of the team has worked on similar projects like UrbanDesigner by Synthicity in the past, a platform that targeted greenfield development, making it possible to accelerate the development of the product.

In short, the platform will help cities in the following ways:

• Allow city experimentation with different growth plans and incentives.
• Address impact in the community of new plans.
• Communicate alternatives to stakeholders from the private sector to define the right incentives.
