Global cities face challenges around management of traffic and the enormous pressure on public space. With an increase of 36% of logistical vehicles towards 2030 in urban areas it is key that cities start to manage the flow of logistics and space allocation in a digital and dynamic way. This is underlined by the challenges proposed by the cities.
Coding the Curbs offers a solution in curbside management. Our innovation makes spaces in cities adaptive by covering it with a digital layer. The result are Smart Zones, bookable and multifunctional spaces that can adapt to changing demands. Think about spaces for (un)loading of goods during weekdays, mobility hubs in the evening and recreation on the weekends.
Our digital platform allows users, such as logistics, to easily book and access Smart Zones. Only with a reservation, vehicles are allowed to enter designated areas such as Zero-Emission Zones or car-free areas.
This makes it possible for cities to allocate space when needed, regulate the access of certain vehicles, prioritize desired behavior and digitally enforce at the Smart Zone locations. For this, we collaborate and integrate with existing UVAR systems and enforcement solutions. When the space is not used by vehicles, we can dynamically adjust the function to fit the needs of local businesses and residents. We always do this in close collaboration with local communities and authorities.
