Novel mobile smart sensorbox and related application solution(s), installable to municipal transport means (eg buses or and/or garbage collection vehicles) will be developed and piloted. The sensors will collect the following data (not limited to this list):
a) road/street pavement condition (roughness index, friction, mapping holes- incl. potholes, ice-snow-rain condition etc), mostly (but not limited by optical, preferably multispectral, sensors) ;
b) noise measurement to characterize and map the street noise (which is the main component in the urban environment).;
c) other sensors, like measuring of the of the air quality and illumination (lighting) condition of the streets will be considered further.
The developed smart sensor box will include optical measurement solution using structured infrared light transmitter and receiver and optionally mm-wave continuous-wave radar scanners, with realtime advanced data and image processing.
The developed smart sensor box could also include the machine-vision system to identify the condition of the traffic signs and street marking on the pavement.
