The proposed solution is a big data driven full-stack ICT-based system of Internet of Bins – including data hardware for wastebin level sensing and data collecting, back-end, front-end, and an Application Programming Interface (API) connection. The API connection can be transferred to the waste-collecting service companies to optimize their routes and participate in tenders based on actual and retrospective bin fill data.
Conditions for realizing this solution are the following:
- To investigate what are current requirements of stakeholders to build fill level-based collecting system – which targets getting monetary savings and reaching carbon footprint targets.
- To create a blueprint of applications, which each stakeholder – municipality, citizens, waste collecting and waste disposal companies – needs to help them to interact in the most effective way.
