Initial proposals for smart city solutions

Workshop: Smart city solution ideas

Cities, counties, and campuses, it’s time to discover the innovative solutions tailored to your challenges. Explore the proposed solution ideas and connect with the brilliant minds – the researchers and developers – driving these ideas.

Are you a researcher or developer with a groundbreaking solution? Send us your idea to solve a city’s challenge by November 30! Participate in our workshop, where you can present your ideas to cities and potentially find partners interested in piloting your solution.

WHEN?
December 13, 2023 at 10.00 – 16.00 Estonian time (9.15 am – 3 pm CET)

WHERE?
It will be a hybrid workshop:

  • We recommend you to join us at Tallinn University of Technology, School of Business and Governance (Akadeemia tee 3, Tallinn, room SOC-213)
  • Registered online participants will receive an event link beforehand.

The aim of this workshop is to introduce the initial proposed ideas to the submitted city challenges and engage in discussions to start forming the initial piloting teams.

We are expecting municipalities that have presented their challenges, as well as researchers and developers who want to participate in developing novel practical smart city solutions.

In addition, we are delighted to have inspirational speakers D.Sc. Aija Staffans and Dr Pilvi Nummi – researchers from Aalto University and FinEst Centre for Smart Cities.

Please register HERE before December 7.

Key dates to remember:

  • From December 2, 2023: Review city challenges and proposed solutions on our website HERE
  • By February 29, 2024: Assemble your initial teams and submit your pilot project proposals to smartcity@taltech.ee. Each proposal should feature a research and development team and involve at least two cities, with one being Estonian and another from a non-Estonian location. We warmly welcome more cities to join in this phase.

See all information on the Smart City Challenge 2023 page.
