IRIS

Artificial Intelligence threat Reporting and Incident response System

Uptake of IoT and AI driven ICT systems in Europe is crucial for our common future, but it is dependent on our strategic ability to protect these systems from cyber threats and attacks on their privacy.

As existing and emerging smart cities expand their IoT and AI-enabled platforms, they introduce novel and complex dimensions to the threat intelligence landscape. These dimensions are linked to identifying, responding to, and sharing data related to attack vectors based on emerging IoT and AI technologies, whose architecture and behavior are not currently well understood by security practitioners such as CERTs and CSIRTs. The lack of experience and tools for detecting and reporting IoT and AI attack vectors is further aggravated by potentially greater safety risks caused by such attacks.

The role of FinEst Centre for Smart Cities

FinEst Centre for Smart Cities participated in 2020 autumn in writing a Horizon 2020 cybersecurity and smart city-themed IA project proposal IRIS. The proposal was valued by experts with maximum points (15 out of 15) and is the first funded project of the FinEst Centre, where FinEst Centre has been involved from the proposal writing phase.
