Smart City Challenge 2024

In short

In the 4th round of the Smart City Challenge, we aim to discover and implement four innovative ideas that address complex urban challenges. These pilot projects will create scalable solutions, enhancing the overall quality of living in cities.

3.7 million euros funding for 4 pilot projects focusing on:

  • Interdisciplinary approach for developing novel solutions.
  • Long-term sustainability of the solution, and contributing to the overarching goals of the FinEst Centre.
  • International collaboration, as each project will feature at least one piloting city from Estonia and one from another country.

Round four began in March 2024, and 4 pilot projects start in September 2025.

The implementation of pilot projects is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the Estonian Ministry of Education and Research through the project “FinEst Targa Linna tippkeskuse piloodiprogramm“.
