Natural and built environment

About the theme

The Natural and Built Environment research theme advances sustainable urban planning and design by combining environmental research, digital innovation, and human-centred approaches.

Our research explores how natural and built environments can support healthier, greener, and more resilient cities. We develop and apply environmental monitoring, digital twins, planning support tools, and participatory methods to understand urban environments and support evidence-based planning and decision-making.
