The proposed solution (Urban Flow Intelligence System) is a privacy-preserving Tourist & Pedestrian Flow Intelligence Platform for cities, built on FIWARE, URBANITE, SUMO, and Apache Kafka.

The Solution provides real-time monitoring, prediction, and simulation of tourist and resident movement, with a special focus on pedestrians and soft mobility (walking, cycling).
2.1. Data Ingestion & Sensing (Edge + FIWARE + Kafka)
Sensors & sources
Wi-Fi / Bluetooth probes in key tourist hotspots, beaches, parks, Old Town.
Privacy-preserving computer-vision counters (edge cameras counting people/bikes, no faces stored).
Mobile app / web opt-in location pings for tourists (e.g., city app or Wi-Fi portal consent).
Public transport, parking, event schedules, weather and ship arrival data (cruise ferries, etc.).
FIWARE IoT Agents ingest all these streams into FIWARE Orion Context Broker, normalizing them as NGSI-LD entities (e.g. Pedestrian Flow, Bicycle Flow, Zone Congestion).
Apache Kafka acts as a scalable event backbone, decoupling high-frequency edge streams from downstream analytics and simulations.
