In 2020, FinEst Centre for Smart Cities organized the first open idea competition. The competition sought research-based ideas that would solve important challenges for Estonian cities and contribute to increasing the sustainability of the FinEst Centre and strengthening their scientific level.
The ideas will be implemented by the FinEst Centre together with partner cities and researchers from Tallinn University of Technology and Aalto University. The implementation of pilot projects was funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the Estonian Ministry of Education and Research through the project „Targa linna tippkeskuse toetusmeetme rakendamine“.
In parallel, Horizon2020 Teaming project: FinEst Twins is funding the development of the basic science part of the FinEst Center for Smart Cities.
